Where RFID attendance still makes sense
For a permanent workforce, a fingerprint or face is stronger than any card, because a card can be handed to a colleague. But there are situations where a card is the right answer: visitors and contractors who cannot be enrolled biometrically, workforces in environments where hands are always gloved or wet, and long-range gate lanes where a vehicle or a forklift passes without stopping. Most of our RFID installations sit alongside biometric terminals rather than replacing them.

Short-range Mifare cards for a wall reader (5 cm), medium-range readers for a turnstile (30 cm), and UHF long-range readers for a vehicle gate lane (up to 3 m).
Works with hands that biometrics reject
Kitchen workers in food-safe gloves, workshop staff with worn fingerprints, workers in cold stores. A wristband stays on the wrist through all of them.
Combines with biometric verification
For high-security sites, we deploy card + fingerprint or card + face. The card identifies the employee, the biometric proves it is them, so a lost card is not a security incident.
Cheaper hardware, higher card cost
The reader is inexpensive but every card is a per-employee cost. For a workforce of 500, this trades off differently than for a workforce of 30. We do the maths at the survey.
Reads through a wallet or lanyard
Cards work in a wallet or clipped to a lanyard, so employees do not need to take them out. Wristbands are ideal for factory floors where hands are occupied.
The card problem, and how we handle it
Cards get shared
The single biggest problem with pure card attendance is buddy punching. We handle this in two ways: for offices, we combine the card with a fingerprint or face for verification; for gates where speed matters more, we accept the trade-off and manage it with random supervisor checks.
Cards get lost
Cards are consumable. Budget for replacements at around AED 15 to 40 per card depending on type. A lost card is disabled in the software immediately and a replacement issued.
Cards can be cloned
The old EM 125 kHz cards can be cloned trivially. We supply modern Mifare 13.56 MHz cards with encryption for anything that matters. Ask us for the details if this is important to your site.
Cards do not identify, they authenticate a token
The card proves possession, not identity. For pure attendance in low-risk offices this is fine. For access to a server room or a cash office, add a fingerprint or a face.

How much does an RFID attendance system cost in the UAE?
A single-reader installation for a small office starts around AED 1,650 excluding VAT, plus around AED 15 to 40 per card. Long-range vehicle gate readers cost more. All prices include cabling, software, enrolment and training.
Can I combine RFID with a fingerprint?
Yes. Card + fingerprint or card + face is a common configuration for high-security sites where the card identifies the employee and the biometric proves it is them.
Which card types do you supply?
Modern Mifare 13.56 MHz cards for anything that matters, plus wristbands, keyfobs and UHF long-range cards for gate lanes. We do not recommend the old EM 125 kHz cards for anything security-relevant because they clone trivially.
What is the maximum read range?
Short-range wall readers work at about 5 cm. Turnstile and desk readers work at 20 to 30 cm. UHF long-range readers for vehicle gates read up to 3 metres.
Do you supply wristbands for factory workers?
Yes. Silicone RFID wristbands are ideal for factory, kitchen and warehouse workforces where the hands are occupied or gloved. They read at the same range as a card.
