Choosing the right machine
The wrong terminal is an expensive mistake. These are the four questions that actually decide it.
How many people pass through, and how fast?
A 200 person shift change needs a terminal that matches in under a second. An office of 30 does not, and paying for that speed is wasted money.
Is it indoors or exposed?
A gate, a compound entrance or a warehouse door needs an IP-rated unit built for UAE summers. An indoor terminal in that position will fail within a season.
What condition are your workers' hands in?
Fingerprints worn smooth by manual labour, gloves or wet hands mean fingerprint alone will not work. Face or palm recognition is the answer, not a stricter policy.
Does the machine also need to open the door?
Attendance only, or access control as well. Adding door control later means re-cabling, so it is worth deciding before installation.
